Winter Courses

Winter Daytime Courses

Courses from Fall and Spring will be offered, but most will take place inside the main lodge. Please inquire for more information.

Animal Tracking

  • 2 -3 hours

    • Head outside and see what is there. Back track the tracks to see if there are any mysteries to be solved.

    • Students will learn how to identify the tracks.

    • Make up your own mystery for others to solve using casts of tracks.

Snowshoeing

  • 3-4 hours with travel time included

    • Head outside on either a trail or we will make our own trail in the woods and learn how to walk on snowshoes, how they work and play some tag with them on.

Cross Country Skiing

  • 3-4 hours with travel time included

    • Head out for a morning or afternoon of cross country skiing on a groomed trail. Depending on the levels of your students we may teach them how to skate ski. Students will make observations along the way and we will stop and learn as we go.

Snow Science/Avalanche Safety

  • 2-3 hours

    • Collect and observe snowflakes to learn about their chemistry, how they form, and some classifications for them.

Learn from local search and rescue volunteers how to use avalanche safety equipment such as a probe and beacon to find a person.

Find out when, why and where avalanches happen.

Make a snow shelter if there is enough snow.
