About MOSA

Our Mission

At Montana Outdoor Science Academy (MOSA), our mission is to provide authentic outdoor experiential science education beyond the classroom. We aim to connect students with and foster an appreciation for the wild places around us, ensuring their enhancement and conservation for future generations.

Our vision is to offer the highest quality outdoor experiential learning courses by collaborating with agency employees, scientists, experts, professors, and local personnel. This approach helps us deepen our understanding of Montana’s wildlife, trees, plants, landforms, and other natural wonders. Some of the agencies we collaborate with include Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, the Bureau of Land Management, the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, the US Forest Service, the Missoula County Weed District, and the Blackfoot Challenge.

We are dedicated to educating youth, empowering them to make informed decisions and to actively conserve the wild places and outdoor areas of our world throughout their lives.

Kristina Davis

Founder and Executive Director

Growing up in Wisconsin, Kristina spent her formative years camping, rock climbing, and skiing with her family. Frequent vacations in Montana, where she has relatives, sparked a deep love for the outdoors. She decided to move to Montana as soon as possible and has been a proud resident since 1996.

Kristina’s passion for the outdoors has significantly influenced her career path. She has done wildlife work for the Bureau of Land Management, worked at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and served as an educator at Potomac School for the past 12 years. There, she taught a wide range of subjects including science, math, and electives in wildlife biology and business. She holds a B.S. in wildlife biology and biology education, a minor in math, and a master’s in science education.

A strong advocate for experiential learning, Kristina designed an outdoor school for 7th graders, a three-day, two-night learning expedition, which laid the groundwork for the Montana Outdoor Science Academy (MOSA). Her dedication to environmental education earned her the Montana Environmental Formal Educator of the Year award in 2021.

Kristina lives in Potomac, Montana, with her husband and two boys. They enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking, and various outdoor activities. Kristina looks forward to sharing her knowledge and love for the outdoors with your group.
